We Are Dragonborn

I am Razthanat. Born in the great city of Thymanther amongst my Dragonborn brethren. My brother Sathranos and sister Rotzaleor stand beside me as I stare at death before me. My scales do not shiver for terror does not grip my beating heart. Enemies of my clan approach. I am ready for them. My sword is sharp, it's black metal craves blood. My shield is strong. I will have many kills this day, for we are Dragonborn.

This was a drawing begun in boredom. I'm growing quite confident in my prowess with charcoal (easily one of my favorite mediums IRL) in Painter and I like to challenge myself from time to time with something bold.

I suspect that working digitally is actually "cheating" as the stubborn ones charge. I could never get these results using actual charcoal, likely because I wasn't using the best stuff. Nonetheless in this drawing, I worked directly on the canvas in one layer, and then experimented with fading out the back characters in distance (which I did with charcoal as well).

That said there are no layer effects here, no lighting effects, no contrast or brightness modulation, only me, my tablet, and Painter 11.

Dragonborn are easily in my top five races in DnD (4e for me). This is likely the greatest justice I've ever done them.
